Wonder What Jesus Thinks About Christm...

Biography

Singer/Songwriter and musician Danny Tate has amassed an impressive list of hit songs and critically acclaimed recordings over a long and fruitful musical career. Tate was born in Beaumont, TX, to a musical and deeply religious family. It seemed natural enough once the young musician began displaying a talent for singing and songwriting that he might eventually follow in the footsteps of his father who was a preacher -- although the younger Tate's ministry seemed destined to be built around his musical abilities. Tate followed a more secular path however, and after moving to Nashville, he broke into the ranks of hit songwriters when Rick Springfield had success with the Tate-penned "Affair of the Heart." Since his career seemed to be heading more in a rock and pop direction, Tate left Nashville and moved to Los Angeles, where he began putting together a string of hits recorded by the likes of Kenny Wayne Shepard, the Jeff Healy Band, Billy Ray Cyrus, Nelson, David Lee Murphy, and a myriad of others. In the early '90s, Tate embarked on a recording career of his own, releasing his self-titled debut in 1992 and Nobody's Perfect in 1995. Both discs feature Tate's polished songcrafting and strong pop vocal sensibilities. Sounding something like mellower, country-ish versions of Bon Jovi records, these two releases are slick, sweet, and honest. During the '90s, Tate also continued to write for other artists, at one point stringing together three number one hits over a period of four years. Tate continues to write and record, most recently on a number of high profile film projects. Only an artist of rare talent, intelligence, and instinct could achieve the kind of lasting success that Tate has enjoyed. ~ Vincent Jeffries, Rovi
