Hector Zalsumba Rivera was born and raised in New York to parents from Jayuya, Puerto Rico. ​ He derives his musical inspiration from his father who was a musician for Tito Rodriguez and El Conjunto Capaseti. ​ Hector's musical career began when he joined La Orquesta Dax Pacem at 17 years of age. That same year he launched his first record with them. ​ He has performed with renowned Salsa artists such as Ray Barreto, Hector Lavoe, Eddie Palmieri, Willie Colon, Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Ismael Rivera, and many more. ​ Hector founded La Orquesta Conciencia when he moved to San Diego, California, and created several recordings with the group. Now, he is delighting audiences with his original compositions and his unique singing voice.
