LIONHEART was formed in late 1980 by Dennis Stratton (lead guitar/backing vocals, ex-Iron Maiden), Jess Cox (lead vocals, ex-Tygers of Pan Tang), Steve Mann (lead guitar/backing vocals, ex-Liar and future MSG member), Rocky Newton (bass guitar/backing vocals, ex-Wildfire and also future MSG member) and Frank Noon (drums, ex-Def Leppard) and was dubbed by SOUNDS magazine as "the first NWOBHM Supergroup". Lionheart regularly packed the infamous Marquee Club in London (where NWOBHM was born) and toured the UK with Whitesnake and Def Leppard. Drummers in Lionheart included Niko McBrain (currently Iron Maiden), Les Binks (Judas Priest) and Clive Edwards (ex-UFO). Today's Lionheart still boasts the core of Dennis, Steve, Rocky and Clive with lead vocals being handled by the outstanding Lee Small (ex-Shy). 1984 saw the release of the band's debut album "Hot Tonight" on CBS Records, produced by Kevin Beamish (REO Speedwagon) and recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in LA (where Dio were rehearsing next door). A video featuring Rik Mayall as the mad professor accompanied the single "Die For Love". The band took a hiatus between 1986 and 2016 during which a double album of Lionheart demos called "Raiders of the Lost Archives" was released on Pony Canyon Records in Japan. Since becoming active again in 2016, Lionheart have recorded the highly acclaimed "Second Nature" album and toured Europe and Japan. The new album “The Reality Of Miracles” is released on 31st July 2020.
