Biography

Kev Brown is known in the Hip Hop world as a legend to say the least. The producer/mc has over 20 years in the business and resume that ranks him among the best. As a Landover, MD native, Kev was an integral part in ushering in the Washington, DC area music scene (also known as the DMV for DC, Maryland & Virginia) to the masses. His exceptional talent was an obvious choice to well seasoned vets and pioneers even in the earliest stage of his career. It was icons like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Marley Marl, Pete Rock, Grap Luva, Biz Markie and De La Soul who recognized his gifts as a producer and assisted in his big break in the early 2000's. Those collaborations gave Brown undeniable production credits which led to his own solo path as an artist. Releasing his debut album, I Do What I Do in 2005 to critical acclaim, it would be a landmark work of it's time. It was a inspiration the local DMV scene as well as the rest of the world. I Do What I Do would be an official introduction to Kev's artist collective, The Low Budget Crew which included Oddisee, Ken Starr, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg, Kaimbr, DJ Roddy Rod, Cy Young, Critically Acclaimed and many others. The album, would be the first time many would hear Kev behind a mic since emerging primarily as a producer. Kev's now trademark production style was being innovated by the producer during this era on the akai MPC Producers from around the globe have been influenced by Kev's sound.
