Split Enz keyboard legend Eddie Rayner first met singer/songwriter Brian Baker in 1986 when Eddie produced a single for Brian's band, "The Ones". The track was called "Heart" and gathered a heap of radio charting in the Top Ten. When Eddie needed a partner to help out with composing a movie soundtrack in 1988, he gave Brian a call. The offical kick off for the Makers would then be in 1989 when they finished creating the soundtrack to the Nadia Tas movie - "Rikki and Pete." Eddie and Brian decided to continue working together, writing and recording songs that would become their debut album, "The Makers", mixed by Hugh Padgham and released through East/West Records in 1990. Their first single "Big Picture" went top 20 and with the addition of Michael Barker on drums and percussion they commenced live shows including a national tour with the B52's. They recorded their second album "Hokey Pokey" soon afterwards and it was released in 1992. The third album that appears here, "Odds and Sods", is comprised of out takes from those sessions plus some recordings they've made together over the last few years. Brian and Eddie continue to collaborate on songs, mixes and ideas, Eddie covering some of Brian's songs on a solo album and also contributing piano to Brian's 2020 single, "In Our Backyard". https://open.spotify.com/artist/6iIkHyTPwf0OrLGibZxT8Q?si=2H4nyLpbRfuZwJsMD2tkLw https://www.facebook.com/eddie.rayner.7
