Björn became part of the German games industry in 1999 and joined the now internationally renowned game studio Piranha Bytes. He was one of the founders and partners of Pluto 13 GmbH and all subsequent Piranha Bytes companies until its sale to THQ Nordic in 2019. He worked as a creative director, game designer, author and composer on the role-playing game series Gothic, Risen and ELEX for over 24 years. The games won numerous prizes and awards from various computer game magazines and industry events with his involvement. In July 2024, he founded the development company Pithead Studio together with his wife Jennifer Pankratz, where he is currently working on indie games and music projects. He is also a regular speaker at conferences and events and gives talks on topics related to the development of computer games.
