Biography

Kenneth Goldsmith is a well-established American chamber musician. As the violinist with the Mirecourt Trio (its other members are cellist Terry King and pianist John Jensen) he has participated in over 20 compact disc releases. He began his career as an orchestral violinist, having been named a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and become its youngest player in 1958. He thus participated in some of the classic Mercury Living Presence recordings with legendary conductor Paul Paray. He was also a soloist in one of the best-selling albums on the Music & Arts Records label, Lou Harrison's Concerto for violin and cello with Javanese gamelan orchestra, in which Terry King was his solo partner. Goldsmith is a Professor of Music at Rice University.
