New age singer-songwriter Kristina Bennett’s musical meditation on divine feminine energy, balance & healing titled “Shakti” became her second consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the iTunes new age chart. The thirteen songs and devotional chants about goddesses that she wrote and sings in English and Sanskrit were produced by Patricio Pickslay. Her band, Full Moon Tiger, is featured throughout the August 2024 album. “Shakti” is Bennett’s third album and follows 2022’s “Mother Tree,” which also topped the iTunes new age chart. She debuted in 2008 with the “Mermaid Tattoos” album, blending rock, jazz and world music. Bennett released several EPs and singles in the interim between her first and second albums before immersing herself fully into new age, spiritual, and mystical music. Having studied voice at Berklee College of Music, she then studied classical Indian singing under Silvia Nakkach, a Grammy nominated vocalist, composer and sound designer who accompanied Bennett on an immersive study period in India in 2015 during which she also received training from Dr. Ritwik Sanyal, a Dhrupad maestro. These experiences radically altered her musical journey as she embarked on a spiritual path. She began integrating Sanskrit mantras, creating music with a devotional, earth-conscious intention.
