Tinting their K-Pop sound with early-2000s R&B influences, S2 girl group KISS OF LIFE (키스 오브 라이프) debuted in July 2023, comprised of idols Natty (나띠), Belle (벨), Julie (쥴리), and Haneul (하늘). Formed over 2022 and 2023 by S2 Entertainment, KISS OF LIFE introduced their members throughout May 2023 before issuing their first mini-album, KISS OF LIFE, in July that year. With a concept intending to "breathe new life" into the industry, the girls’ first project was helmed by the bassy anthem "Shhh" and swaying B-side "Bye My Neverland," alongside offering solo tracks for each of the group’s four members (with Natty’s R&B throwback "Sugarcoat" finding major success). The group’s second mini-album, Born to Be XX, quickly followed in November, featuring the twangy “Bad News” and continuing the nostalgic R&B sound with "Nobody Knows." In 2024, KISS OF LIFE found their first major hit with "Midas Touch": drenched in early-2000s synths and nostalgic, soaring melodies, the track marked the group’s first major appearance on the Korean charts, peaking at number eight.
