Grand lauréat du titre Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada 2020-2021, Carl Mayotte est l’un des jeunes bassistes et jazzmen les plus en vogue au Québec et au Canada en ce moment. Ayant commencé sa carrière professionnelle à l’âge de 16 ans et complété une maîtrise en interprétation jazz à l’Université McGill, sa virtuosité et sa versatilité ont été remarquées par plusieurs musiciens et critiques comme Alain Caron et le Bass Magazine. Son troisième album, Escale, lui a d'ailleurs valu un prix Félix pour l’album jazz de l’année en 2022. Il sortira à l'automne 2023 son quatrième album en carrière, intitulé "Carnaval". Cet album présente un mélange unique et rarement entendu entre un quintet de jazz fusion et un quintette à vent classique. Having started his professional career at the age of 16 and completed a master's degree in jazz performance at McGill University, his virtuosity and versatility have been noticed by several musicians and critics from Alain Caron to the Bass Magazine. His third album, "Escale," recently earned him a Félix award (the equivalent of the Grammy Awards in Quebec) for Jazz Album of the Year in 2022. He will be releasing his fourth career album, titled "Carnaval," in the fall of 2023. This album showcases a unique and seldom-heard fusion of a jazz fusion quintet and a classical woodwind quintet.
