Biography

Junica is Wellington based musician, Nik Brinkman. Junica released their first EP in 2010 which featured collaborations with Ladyhawke, Peter Moren of 'Peter Bjorn and John', Mike Edwards of Jesus Jones and remixes from Kids Of 88, Kody Nielson and Jimmy Tamborello of The Postal Service. Junica then signed to Sony/ATV publishing Australia and set out on a songwriting trip to Los Angeles, London and Stockholm to begin writing for the album. The first single 'Living In My House ft. Ladyhawke' was then recorded at Peter Gabriel's 'Real World Studios' in Bath, UK, and the following singles 'Stay' and 'And It Hurts' were produced by Joel Little. The debut album 'The Celebration' was recorded at Golden Age Studios, Auckland and the was produced by Greg Haver. The album was released on Warner Music NZ in 2012 and was supported by a handful of shows, including supports for New Order, The Naked and Famous and a slot at Big Day Out Festival. Junica then released two new singles 'I Know A Place' and ' Somewhere Far' which were produced by with Mark Saunders, who mixed The Cure's 'Wish' album. These sessions were done in New Rochelle, NY. Junica directed a video for 'I Know A Place' which was filmed at famous 'Madonna Inn' Hotel in California.
