Jimmy Drake was a demo singer from California, doing hundreds of them a year for aspiring songwriters across the country. With the help of a disc-jockey friend adding radio-station car-crash sound effects, he took one of his homemade demos, "Transfusion," and brought it to the Top Ten in 1956.
