American standup comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish overcame years of hardship to emerge as the breakthrough star from the 2017 film Girls Trip. Influenced by Richard Pryor, Dane Cook, and the Wayans Brothers, she used comedy as an outlet to cope with the pain. With a biting wit and uncensored voice, Haddish transformed her childhood pain and early career struggles -- years in the foster care system and living out of her car -- into honest comedic material that she showcased on Def Comedy Jam and her own special, She Ready: From the Hood to Hollywood.
