Biography

Ian Stewart is an electronic music producer, mastering, and mixing engineer based in western Massachusetts. Growing up in a musical family, Ian had a fascination with just about anything that made sound from an early age, and as a young boy he studied cello for several years before picking up his father's instrument, the trumpet. His trumpet studies took him first to Milton Academy, where he had the opportunity to tour South Africa with the school's jazz ensemble, and later to the University of Miami. While at Miami Ian initially pursued a major under the Studio Music and Jazz curriculum. However, before long his inquisitive nature lured him toward the technological underpinnings of the recording studio, and he ultimately earned his B.S. in Music Engineering Technology. Ian attributes his diverse taste in music to his family. From his father comes his love of jazz: Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Don Ellis, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, and many other were in regular rotation on his father's turntable. From his mother he gained an appreciation for myriad vocal genre: Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Jimmy Cliff, Bonnie Rait, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Eva Cassidy and more made up the soundtrack to many road trips in his mother's car. Ultimately it was Ian's oldest brother who showed him the world of electronic music via DJ mix tapes he recorded for Ian. It is all these influences to which Ian attributes his own, unique sound.<br>
