Zunesha, the experimental pop project by Berlin-based Producer/Singer/Songwriter Josiah Simonds, explores what it means to find oneself in a world crowded by superficial social norms. Zunesha built his skillset as a producer and songwriter through his work in a pop duo called CANDYBOY which he founded with his closest friend Sam Snyder in 2019. Together releasing “CAVITIES-DEMOS” in 2020 and the full-length album “opus” in 2023. Since moving to Berlin later that year, Josiah started his new project as Zunesha; matching the name he had given to his cello years prior. He creates dreamy introspective songs brimming with hope for the future while acknowledging the pain of the past; exploring his queer identity with lyrics inspired by relationships, lust, and the inherent beauty in imperfection. His recordings and performances often feature extended cello techniques and improvisation alongside live effects processing to stretch the limits of the instrument's acoustic character. Uniting this sound with other lush instrumentation including guitars, electronic sound design, and smooth vocals; Zunesha provides captivating experiences for his audience while pushing the boundaries of his skillset to create truly transformative work.
