Gurupriya Atreya is a singer, voice artist and an arts curator. Trained in Indian classical music, she works across a wide and eclectic range of genres. She has worked as a playback singer for films, commercial jingles & television. Her first Independent single/ music video in Kannada, 'Kula by poet Kuvempu', challenges the caste system in India. This song was featured at The Times Literary Festival, 2019 Gurupriya collaborates with other musicians, creating new music in a contemporary space. She is now working on exploring the Nirgun and Sagun traditions which are an integral part of the Bhakti movement poetry in India. She recently released a devotional album, 'Padma Paadham', a collection of songs set to tune by her father. To celebrate the tradition of chamber music and to restore some of its glory, Gurupriya embarked on the journey of a lifetime by launching The Living Room Kutcheri in 2017. This curatorial venture of hers has been attracting artists from across the country who want to share their work in intimate spaces. The space hosts a variety of music, dance, theatre, and storytelling performances. GoUNESCO has featured the property to be featured in their heritage documentary series. The property currently hosts performances in Bangalore and Mumbai.
