Biography

Divya Kumar from an early age, grew in an atmosphere favourable to music. Born in a family of musicians, he wanted to be a drummer but eventually took interest in singing. In his early years Divya was assisting the musical duo Sachin-Jigar while his dream of becoming a playback singer turned to reality in 2012, when Amit Trivedi gave him his debut song ‘Aafaton Ke Parinde’. The unique Folk and Sufi texture in his voice has allowed him to stand out among other artistes and win over the hearts of millions of people. Some of his hit songs are ‘Jee Kar Da’, ‘Maston Ka Jhund’, 'G Phaad Ke', 'Panghat', 'Shubharambh', 'Kamariya', 'Sun Saathiya', 'Manohari', 'Halka Halka', 'Gann Deva', 'Panga Title Song' and 'Loveyatri Title Song'. Divya Kumar is also multilingually talented and has sung songs in Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. He has received the GIMA Award, Mirchi Top 20 Jubilees Award and has appeared twice on MTV’s prestigious Coke Studio and Unplugged shows alongside Amit Trivedi and Sachin-Jigar. A strong believer of ‘honing your skills and redefining your limits’, Divya has recently self-released non-film music such as 'Jugni', ‘Banna’, ‘Zariya’ and ‘Sojatiya Sirdar’ which also saw him officially compose for the first time. Divya Kumar’s broad range of work, especially in Bollywood has garnered him immense respect and admiration amongst the legendaries and he looks forward to being known for his music in times to come.
