Dark Signals

Toward a Damaged Horizon

Biography

Bridging the gap between shoegazer and electronic rock, Sleepy Eyes of Death cite My Bloody Valentine and Kraftwerk as inspirations and come across like a mash-up of Mogwai and M83. Their music is dense and powerful with layered textures of retro keyboards, synthesizers, and cacophonous guitars run through various delays and distortions, alongside a combo of live drums and antique drum machine loops. To match the cinematic intensity of their songs, which are loud to say the least, Sleepy Eyes of Death began using industrial strobe lights and fog machines for their live shows and started getting attention around their home city of Seattle for their often epic appearances. After recording a self-titled EP in 2006, in 2007 they recorded their first full-length, Street Lights for a Ribcage. In January of 2009 they released a second EP, Dark Signals, which was engineered by Minus the Bear founder and Isis and Mastodon producer Matt Bayles. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
