Alexander Tucker works across song composition, electronic constructions, experimental modes and improvisation. Formally trained as a painter at the Slade School of Fine Art, Tucker went onto produce a series of critically acclaimed solo albums for renowned Chicago based record label Thrill Jockey and All Tomorrow's Parties before recording as MICROCORPS for Alter Records. MICROCORPS debut release, XMIT - features collaborations with Gazelle Twin, Nik Colk Void, Simon Fisher Turner & Astrud Steehouder, employing altered voices, sound synthesis and atomised beat constructions. He also has a number of collaborative projects including avant-pop, electronic duo Grumbling Fur (with Daniel O'Sullivan); the Grumbling Fur Time Machine Orchestra, who have improvised with Charlemagne Palestine, Mark Titchner and Neil Campbell, and tape loop radiophonic project Imbogodom (with Daniel Beban), recorded at BBC Bush House. Tucker has toured extensively in the UK, Europe, New Zealand and the U.S. Recent projects include NONEXISTENT with Astrud Steehouder (Paper Dollhouse, Opal X) and Luke J Murray (Grimescapes, Stonecirclesampler) and Brood X Cycles with Nik Colk Void. A new collaboration with Derek Jarman’s partner the late Keith Collins titled Fifth Continent will be released on Subtext Recordings February 2023.
